REDDI Lab
Clemson's REDDI lab employs over 60 people and has run over 1,000,000 COVID tests for the university and surrounding community.
I began my work in the Research and Education in Disease Diagnostic Intervention Lab (REDDI) in September of 2020 as one of the very first undergraduates hired in the lab. We began by delivering tests to athletes and processing a small amount of samples per week; however, as the pandemic grew and evolved, so did we. We grew the capacity of the lab until we were running weekly tests for students, faculty, and staff of Clemson University as well as samples from the local community.
In May 2022, I received a promotion to Assistant Undergraduate Supervisor. Prior to this change, I primarily worked as a lab assistant collecting samples, scanning them into the daily intake document, baking them, and assigning them to robots. I now manage the lab's Microsoft Teams and assign undergraduates to open shifts. Additionally, I oversee safety compliance of all staff by ensuring their required training and certification is completed and properly documented in both an electronic and paper form.
